Healthy children and strong families are the cornerstone of a thriving community. At Our Saviour Center in El Monte, California, we provide social services to poverty-level and low-income families and individuals to "share love, hope, and resources with our neighbors in need."
Under the able and creative leadership of parishioner Dorris Dann, Our Saviour Center has grown to be the largest churchbased social services agency in the San Gabriel Valley, reaching more than 75,000 residents of our community who stand in need of help.
The Church of Our Saviour opened the Center
in 1985 to offer a hot lunch to the hungry.
As the Center's
volunteers and
staff began to get
to know the area's
homeless families,
they started a
Personal Services
Program to offer
temporary shelter
and personal hygiene items. The Center has
continued to grow in this organic, community-based way — as the Center's staff encounters
a pressing need, and strives to meet it
— until today Our Saviour Center operates a
comprehensive array of
services that dignify and
nourish, respect and affirm,
ease suffering and
offer hope.
Currently, we offer the following programs:
- Cleaver Family Wellness Clinic offering comprehensive medical and wellness care
- job development and employment training
- temporary emergency shelter

As long as a child is hungry or sick, a family is looking for work or shelter, or children need an alternative to the streets, we will be there!

The Cleaver
Family Wellness Clinic
- provided 3,093 medically vulnerable patients 9,206 clinical visits.
- had 10,000 health and wellness educational sessions run by our nutrition team.
- gave 946 kids 1,448 vaccinations.
- More than 350 men and women have gone through our program since 2002.
our youth programs
- provided after-school and summer programs to over 400 youth aged 3-18 years.
- gave over 4,500 hours of personal tutoring assistance, and saw 80% of our program youth improve their math and English grades.
- provided an additional 2,000 hours of youth computer instruction.
- made memories to last a lifetime!
our job programs
- engaged 475 unemployed and underemployed individuals in job counseling services.
- placed 109 clients in new jobs.
our personal services programs
- provided 266 people, 178 of them children, 547 nights of temporary motel shelter.
- taught 2,513 parenting classes to 262 parents, 80% of them court-referred.
- gave comfort, support, and shelter to 691 homeless individuals in our emergency services program.
feeding the hungry
Our Saviour Center provides over-the-
counter food distribution to an average of 150 households each business day. We also run an Emergency Food and Shelter Program. Volunteers come three days a week to prepare and give out bags of food.
caring for the sick
People who have limited or no access to health care find The Cleaver Wellness Clinic offers personal, compassionate, accessible care to all who enter its doors. We offer primary health care including pediatric care and health-related services such as nutrition and wellness classes.

a place to grow
Every day children flock to our beautiful Kid's Campus, which sits on 1.6 acres in El Monte and includes a preschool, gymnasium, arts and crafts room, theatre, art gallery, computer lab, and study areas for homework and tutoring.
