As early as people took poetry and set it to music, there have been hymns and songs: as the Egyptian Great Hymn to the Aten, composed by Pharaoh Akhenaten; and the Hurrian Hynm to Nikkal; the Vedas, a collection of hymns in the tradition of Hinduism and the Psalms, a collection of songs from Judaism.
This Sunday, August 12 we will have a conversation about hymns, songs and YOUR favorite hymns, old and new. Come prepared to think, to explore and learn of our faith through HYMNODY. The FORUM will take place in the Quire, the section of the church building that is sandwiched between the nave and the sanctuary, what many call the Choir loft or the Chancel. TIME: 9:00 – 9:40 a.m.
For the last 4 years, Church of Our Saviour has been involved with a program called LA City Pilgrimage. This Sunday, our two "Pilgrims" from the 2018 experience will be presenting what they learned and how the trip challenged them to explore their faith and see how God is calling us to serve. Don't miss this Sunday!
Betty Duker, our resident COS Stained Glass expert, will be leading taking us along on a tour of the stained glass windows that adorn our sanctuary. Even if you have been on one of Betty's tours before, there is always something new to find out about our historic church!
Join us in the Main Sanctuary at 9 AM Sharp!
