children are at our center
Children of all ages are at the center of our life together at Church of Our Saviour.
Children bring many
spiritual gifts to us. We
honor their ability to
love and trust without
reserve. We delight in
their ability to listen
imaginatively. We value their ability to
question and to speak with candor. Their
playfulness brings joy and life into our
midst. In grateful response to these precious
gifts, we are dedicated at Church
of Our Saviour to helping children fulfill
their individual spiritual promise.
Our programs offer an environment where:
- Your child is known and loved as an individual.
- Your child's safety is our first concern.
- Teachers are consistent and well-trained.
- Your child will learn our biblical story in a way he or she can understand and find inspiring.
- Your child will learn our worship traditions in a loving peer community.
our Sunday School program

Our Sunday School
curriculum, Godly Play, offers children
a chance to explore the Bible and their
response to it with adult leaders and
their peers. Each week a Biblical or liturgical
story is told, aloud, face to face
and heart to heart. Three-dimensional
props provide the concrete learning support
that small children need. Godly Play
stories are magic: as open-ended, transcendent,
and large as the sky. Childcentered,
spiritual, and fun, Godly Play
helps our children express the spiritual
dimension of their lives and build on their
innate faith.

the arts in our life
The arts play a key role
in all that we do with
children at Our Saviour, providing nonverbal
ways to learn and to explore.
During Godly Play children enjoy a rich
array of media including mosaics, wood,
clay, paints, collage, and printmaking.
We have two fun and professionally led
children's choirs. Plus, the children put
on two plays each year - our not to
be missed Christmas pageant, and our
Spring Musical. Puppets find their way
into worship. And of course we sing...
during class, worship, and family events
(campfires are our specialty).

families together
At a time when the "neighborhood" is
fast disappearing, our families take each
other to heart. Through worship, parenting
classes, dinners, dances, camp-outs,
weekend trips, and more, we become
central to each other's lives.

from 3-5 years
Preschoolers learn and play on
Sunday mornings in our two classrooms
and outside playground.
Paid staff are with the children
year-round to give individual and
loving attention. We offer Sunday
School at 9am using the Episcopal
curriculum Godly Play. During
10:15 worship time we build
on the Godly Play story of the
day with fun activities and group

Sunday School
kindergarten - 5th grade
Our Sunday School develops our children's faith and prepares them to assume an adult, personal relationship with God. The curriculum:
- Teaches the biblical story of our salvation.
- Teaches our liturgical practice, including the sacraments
- Provides loving relationships with adults and peers. We use the Episcopal Sunday School curriculum Godly Play. learn more about Godly Play
children's worship
kindergarten - 5th grade
Each week children have their own, special "Liturgy of the Word". In Children's Worship we sing, pray, and proclaim the Gospel for children, offering them time to respond and pray in their own words. Children help lead the service. Parents are always invited to join their child and come worship with us! At the close of Children's Worship, children process to the church to join their parents for Holy Communion.
children's choirs
Our children's music program offers children from 5 to 12 years of age a chance to participate in an energetic ensemble under the leadership of professional musicians. The Gospel Cherubs (grades K-2) and The Star Chorus (grades 3-5) include basic musicianship skills, rhythm and movement, playing hand chimes and percussion instruments, as well as learning the great hymns and service music of our Anglican tradition. The Choirs sing regularly in the 10:15 am Sunday service as well as support our Children's Worship program.
